H.J. Crawford Award

The H.J. Crawford Award was created to commemorate UTS' Centennial Celebrations. H.J. 'Bull' Crawford was the first Headmaster of UTS from 1910 -1923. Crawford truly set the tone for UTS with his powerful personality, fine academic background and high ideals. Crawford believed that UTS should be foremost in scholarship and athletics, but above all, in making good citizens.

In tribute to H.J. Crawford, this award honours and acknowledges an individual that has made a significant contribution to the advancement of UTS through commitment, dedication and volunteerism, and has contributed to our greater society through other significant lifetime achievements.

UTS is pleased to announce that the second annual H.J. Crawford Award will be presented to Bob Lord '58 at the Double Blue & White Ball on October 16, 2010.

After carefully reviewing all the submissions sent in by the UTS community, the selection committee's decision was unanimous! As Chair of the UTS Board, Bob's commitment, dedication and leadership has been unsurpassed, guiding UTS through its independence from the University of Toronto. He has also been extensively involved in the volunteer and not-for-profit sectors beyond UTS and has had a successful and distinguished business career.

The presentation of the inaugural H.J. Crawford Award was made by Centennial Honourary Chair, Chris Alexander '85 to Dr. John Evans '46 at the Centennial Opening Reception on October 1, 2009. A prominent citizen of Canada and the world, Dr. Evans has continually demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to UTS and its community. Over the years, John has been a model of leadership and has achieved a high standard of excellence in the worlds of academia, business and philanthropy.
