Meet the Principal
It is such a privilege to become the fourteenth principal of University of
Toronto Schools. UTS has a 101-year history of excellence in education and a
reputation for creating a transformative educational experience that shapes the
lives of those who attend the school. In turn, our students have transformed the
world.
In preparing to take on the role of principal during the past few months, I
spoke with many current and past students, staff, and parents, former
principals, and friends of the school. The messages were consistent. UTS creates
an atmosphere that engenders passion on the part of all community members. The
strong sense of community is fuelled by the dynamic relationship that evolves
between students and their teachers. UTS teachers are extremely dedicated; they
continuously support students to challenge themselves and to take risks. They
provide opportunities for students to accomplish things they never imagined they
could do.
The other special relationship that develops at the school is the bond between
students. At UTS students make friends that they will have throughout their
lives. Students form friendships based on mutual respect, moulded through their
school experiences. These relationships continue to provide sustenance into the
future.
