The Steering Committee is the planning team overseeing the
process. Its accountabilities are to ensure team
accountabilities, put mission and vision statements in place to
guide the process, coordinate communication, review progress and
discuss the draft of the written plan.

PLANNING TEAMS
The planning teams are organized around key areas of focus
for UTS in the future:
The Advancement and Finance Team is composed
of Martha Drake, Claudia Miatello (Co-Chair), Sabina Pampor and
Bernie McGarva (Co-Chair).
Its accountabilities are to consult and fact find with relevant
stakeholders on financial matters and to analyze its findings
and make recommendations to the Leadership Team for inclusion in
the final plan. It has the added responsibility of gaining
knowledge from other groups, so each member is also assigned to
another team, so a full understanding of financial demands and
realities can drive their discussions.
The Community and Outreach Team is composed
of Cathy Mallove (Co-Chair), Makeda Daley, Lily McGregor, Martha
Drake (Co-Chair ), Adele Madonia (UTS ’02), Christine Haladay
(parent), Meg O’Mahony (teacher), and Rebecca Levere (teacher).
Its accountabilities are to consult and fact find with relevant
stakeholders on opportunities to strengthen the public purpose
of UTS and its partnerships and to analyze its findings and make
recommendations to the Leadership Team for inclusion in the
final plan.
The Professional Development and Academic Program
Team is composed of Gen Ling Chang (Co-Chair),
Philip Marsh (Co-Chair), Michaele Robertson and Claudia Miatello.
Its accountabilities are to consult and fact find with relevant
stakeholders on program direction and opportunities to attract,
retain and develop the finest teachers in Toronto, and to
analyze its findings and make recommendations to the Leadership
Team for inclusion in the final plan.
The Student Recruitment Team is composed of
Dorothy Davis (Chair), Luke Stark (UTS ’04), Meg Lloyd-Jones
(parent), and Garth Chalmers (teacher). Its accountabilities are
to consult and fact find with relevant stakeholders on how to
attract, retain and educate the students in the GTA best suited
to benefit from a UTS education, and to analyze its findings and
make recommendations to the Leadership Team for inclusion in the
final plan.
The Physical Plant Team is composed of Rick
Parsons (Chair), Bernie McGarva, Garth Chalmers and Sabina
Pampor. Its accountabilities are to consult and fact find with
relevant stakeholders on the best design and use of physical
space in UTS, including the creation of innovative space to
support UTS objectives, and to analyze its findings and make
recommendations to the Leadership Team for inclusion in the
final plan.
