GUID F1 - Guidance
The FI students will attend a guidance class one period a week. In this
guidance class, three main areas of knowledge and skills will be explored:
- Student development (study skills and work
habits, strategies, preferences, time management, setting and achieving
goals).
- Interpersonal development (self-management,
group work skills, getting along with and accepting others,
communication skills, bullying, gender issues, and social
responsibility).
- Career development (personal interests,
strengths, competencies and accomplishments).
Initially, the guidance class will provide relevant information and
strategies that will help the students become better acquainted with UTS.
Students will also have the opportunity to raise and/or discuss various
issues pertaining to their UTS experience, give feedback and reflect on
school events (such as special assemblies and symposiums) and on overnight
camps (such as Couchiching and Wanakita), express concerns and problem
solve.
Middle IV
GLC 2OH - Career Studies ( credit course)

intelligently and purposefully interact with their world so that they live,
work, and participate in it as satisfied and contributing members of
society. Student learning will include assessing their own knowledge,
skills, and characteristics and investigating economic trends, workplace
organization, work opportunities, and ways to search for work. The course
explores postsecondary learning options, prepares students for
community-based learning, and helps them build the capabilities needed for
managing work and life transitions. Students will design action plans for
pursuing their goals.
