They are ten young Canadians, 16-17 years old, at the vanguard of an emerging generation. Born against the backdrop of the globalization of culture, consumerism and crisis -- ecological and humanitarian. A journey into southern Africa will begin their exploration of identities, personal and collective: what does it mean to be a young Canadian in the 21st century? a part of the global human family?

Follow this group of ten on an extraordinary crash course in the complexities of international development in Lusaka, Zambia . Joining forces with Zambian youth, they visit orphanages, hospitals, feeding centres and community schools, documenting the scourges of AIDS and poverty, and exploring the ties that bind. How will these experiences affect their values, their sense of self? What connection and contribution can they make in so short a time? And what will they take home with them?
