A Mile in Her Shoes: A Documentary Film and Campaign Mobilizing Young Women in the Fight against AIDS
A Mile in Her Shoes is about mobilizing young women, both figuratively and literally, to join in the fight against AIDS. It is about parallel lives, Canadian and Zambian, intersecting and connecting in unexpected ways.
The film follows four young Canadian women, 15-17 years old, on a first journey to Africa to partner with young Zambian women at the Umoyo School for Girls. Together, the girls explore issues of sexual power, the feminization of AIDS, and join forces in a grassroots effort to halt the spread of the AIDS pandemic.
