Welcome Back!

This morning as I sit in my office, the halls of UTS are humming with the sounds of students reconnecting with friends and staff. At UTS we are eagerly preparing for the first week of school and the launch of the 2017-2018 academic year.

This year, UTS launches our refreshed strategic plan. Our focus on transformative learning for students and staff is central to achieving our school’s purpose. UTS students take the initiative to learn deeply; they develop the knowledge and skills required to become innovators capable of making a difference as socially responsible global citizens. Empowering students through support structures -- like  our dedicated staff, our Roborium, and our experienced Student Services team -- ensures that all students receive the encouragement they need to thrive. Our emphasis on wellness and mentoring helps students live a healthy life and begin to shape, and ultimately accomplish, their goals.

In achieving all of the above, we are indebted to the broader UTS community. UTS parents and guardians are actively engaged, and their dedication is inspiring. The UTS Parents Association (UTSPA)  contributes immeasurably to school life. In addition, our alumni and the UTS Alumni Association (UTSAA) give back in countless ways, including mentorship, support, and advocacy for the school. I am frequently reminded of how UTS was pivotal to their growth and development, and am heartened that their UTS friendships endure throughout their lives.

Our history – and, through the renewed Affiliation Agreement, our present and future – is closely connected with the University of Toronto. We are grateful that our various partnerships with U of T professors, departments, and facilities enrich the UTS curricula. We remain steadfast in our commitment to work in partnership with the University of Toronto. Our local and global partnerships also enrich the experience of our students. We now have four partner schools in Beijing, Frankfurt, Shanghai, and Udine.

Welcome back and best wishes to everyone for a healthy, productive and inspiring school year!
